PASTOR MORNE VAN WYKAlleged investment fraud involving a South African pastor in Nelspruit

A South African pastor from Nelspruit, Pastor Morne van Wyk, is alleged to have convinced members of his church and associated individuals to part with their hard-earned money by offering high monthly returns on funds loaned to him for trading purposes.

According to multiple affected parties, the alleged investment arrangement initially appeared to function as promised, with regular monthly payments being made. Over time, more people were reportedly approached and encouraged to invest. However, approximately one year ago, the monthly payments allegedly stopped, communication ceased, and the pastor reportedly disappeared. Several victims have described the structure of the operation as resembling a Ponzi-style investment scheme.

It is further alleged that Pastor Morne van Wyk fled South Africa and is currently residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after being confronted by church members who demanded repayment of their funds. Images circulating online suggest that he may be living comfortably abroad.

Records indicate that he is not registered with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) in South Africa, nor is he authorised as a licensed trader or investment broker.

Additional reports state that he allegedly left behind his wife and two children in South Africa without financial support, and divorce proceedings are reportedly underway.

Criminal charges have allegedly been laid against Pastor Morne van Wyk in South Africa, while he is believed to be evading authorities outside the country. The estimated amount allegedly owed to church members and investors is approximately R56 million.

Anyone in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, or elsewhere in South Africa who believes they may have been affected by this alleged investment scheme and has not yet contacted Coast-to-Coast Special Investigations is encouraged to come forward.
